Fashion advertising in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands is small, dense, digitally fluent and comfortable in English, which makes it one of the easiest first expansion markets in Europe and one of the fastest to prove. It also has one non negotiable: iDEAL. This is what we know about selling fashion to the Dutch customer, and the Dutch brand on our home page.

Fashion in Netherlands

Short answer. Fundal Media runs paid acquisition, Klaviyo and Shopify conversion for fashion brands selling in the Netherlands and Belgium. For the Dutch market we plan for iDEAL as the dominant payment method, English creative that works alongside Dutch, fast delivery through PostNL with next day as the norm, Thuiswinkel Waarborg as the trust signal, and a customer who is price aware but brand loyal. Kate June, a Dutch fashion brand, is a Fundal Media client and its founder is quoted on our home page.

The Dutch fashion customer

She shops on her phone, pays with iDEAL, expects the parcel tomorrow evening, and is comfortable reading an English ad. She is price aware and compares, but she is loyal once a brand has earned it, and she is direct: a store that is slow, unclear or foreign in its returns terms loses her without a second look. The market is small, so broad targeting saturates quickly and the creative rotation has to keep pace.

iDEAL

The single most important thing on this page. A store without iDEAL at checkout loses a large share of Dutch customers at the last step. It is available through Shopify Payments and every major gateway and it takes an afternoon to enable. We check for it on every Dutch audit and it is missing surprisingly often on brands expanding in.

Kate June

Kate June is a Dutch fashion brand and a Fundal Media client. Its founder is quoted on our home page: they do not just run ads, they understand our brand DNA, our customer psychology and how to tell our story in a way that actually converts. That is the work we do for a Dutch brand: creative built from the brand's own story, a store that converts the Dutch way, and a Klaviyo setup in the brand's voice.

What changes in the ad account

English creative performs well in the Netherlands, which makes it a cheap market to test in for a brand with an English creative library. Dutch product pages still convert better than English ones. A dedicated Dutch prospecting campaign with its own budget, PostNL delivery promises in the copy, and a faster creative rotation than Germany or the UK because the audience is smaller.

The Netherlands as a first expansion market

For a UK, Danish or German brand the Netherlands is often the right first market: close, fast to ship to, comfortable in English, and quick to prove. Belgium usually follows, sharing the Dutch store for Flanders and the French creative for Wallonia. The process is in launching a fashion brand in a new market.
